The log house on a bright fall afternoon. The red metal roof and the long upper deck look out over the garden beds that climb the slope below, with the oak woods rising behind.A summer sunset behind our beloved sycamore. Pink and gold clouds glow over the valley while mist drifts along the wooded hills. That sycamore was the only shade tree on the lawn, and it had to be cut down later because its branches had grown into the power lines. I still miss it. My hope is that the new owners will plant many trees on this lawn, so that one day there will be shade here again, and new trees to frame sunsets like this one.A panoramic view on a bright summer morning. On the left, the cypress log house with its two-car garage, bay window, and long stairway up to the front porch. To the right, the land opens out past the gardens to green meadows, tall trees, and the misty Ozark hills rolling away in the distance. This is the view that greets you every morning at the Living Springs Log House.Sunflower with butterfliesComing up the driveway, you see the garage and the walk-out lower level, with the outside stairs climbing to the upper deck. Orange flowers bloom along the edge of the drive, and a little hand-painted sign by the garage points the way to the spring.Front deckThe gardensFrom below, the house sits on a natural ledge of big Ozark sandstone boulders.
