When people picture the Ozarks, they usually think of hills, rivers, and quiet back roads. What surprises many newcomers is how many holistic healers have chosen to put down roots here. Within an easy drive of our log house outside Huntsville, you can find functional medicine doctors, acupuncturists, naturopaths, energy workers, and even a pediatrician who centers his practice on plant-based nutrition.
I’ve lived on this land for years now, and I’ve come to believe that healing grows best in places that support it: clean water, quiet, whole, plant-based food, and people who care. Northwest Arkansas offers that same kind of steady source for people looking for a gentler, more whole-person approach to health.
Here is a town-by-town look at what’s out there.
Fayetteville: The Hub for Functional Medicine
Fayetteville has the deepest bench of root-cause practitioners in the region.
Ozark Holistic Center – A Fayetteville clinic offering chiropractic care, applied kinesiology, lab-driven functional medicine, massage, and environmental testing. Their services also extend to nutritional counseling, acupuncture, infrared sauna sessions, mold testing, and genetic testing. They’re at 2863 Millennium Drive.
Taylor Functional & Integrative Medicine – Dr. Margaret Taylor is fellowship trained in integrative and functional medicine, and is also fellowship trained and board certified in family medicine and geriatrics. Her aim is to bridge conventional and functional care.
Our Functional Wellness Clinic – Founded in 2025 by Ginger Spiller, APRN, FNP-C, who brings nearly two decades of patient-care experience. New clients get a one-hour initial consultation, followed by 30-minute quarterly check-ins.
Generations Health and Wellness Center – Drs. Denny and Mandy Warren specialize in functional medicine and pediatric chiropractic care.
Ozark Natural Foods Co-op – Not a clinic, but no guide to natural health here would be complete without it. Founded in 1971, it’s described as the only food co-op in Arkansas, and it’s been serving Fayetteville and the wider NWA area ever since, with a focus on responsibly grown food and support for local farmers and makers. For a vegan, this is the pantry.
Rogers and Bentonville: A Plant-Based Pediatrician
This is the one I was most excited to find. Dr. Craig Keever of Ozark Pediatrics practices in Rogers and is described as the area’s first plant-based pediatrician; he is board-certified in Lifestyle Medicine and holds certification in plant-based nutrition. He has over 25 years of pediatric experience and highlights whole-food, plant-based nutrition as part of comprehensive care for children.
For families raising little ones on a plant-based diet, having a pediatrician who understands and supports that choice is a gift.
Holland Health also serves this part of the region. It’s an integrative and functional medicine clinic serving families across Bentonville, Rogers, Fayetteville, and beyond.
Springdale: Integrative and Eastern Medicine
Springdale Health Integrative Clinic – This clinic blends modern diagnosis with acupuncture, Chinese medicine, functional medicine, and herbal medicine. It has operated as a family medicine clinic open to the public since 2012.
NWA Natural Health – A naturopathic physician whose practice focuses on integrative pediatrics and nutritional interventions for adults, including testing and nutrient IVs.
Springdale and its surroundings also have several acupuncture practices, including Roots of Renewal Acupuncture, ActiveLife Acupuncture & Wellness Center, Jade Path Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine, and Steel Creek Acupuncture.
Eureka Springs: The Healing Town
Eureka Springs has long drawn people looking for healing, and that spirit is still alive. Here you’ll find energy work and bodywork.
Imago Healing Therapies – Rebekah Clark offers Medical Qigong and Sound Therapy, in a beautiful setting just above Blue Spring in the White River Valley.
Eureka Massage Center – A cooperative of professional massage therapists on Wall Street.
Other names that come up again and again include Eureka Mind Body Spirit, Suchness Spa, and Unstruck Sanctuary.
Huntsville: Close to Home
Huntsville is small, but it has a long-standing natural health clinic right in town.
Natural Life Health Clinic – Established in 1997, offering chiropractic, acupuncture, naturopathic care, herbal medicine, and nutritional therapy. They have two locations, one on Edith Avenue in Huntsville and one on Passion Play Road in Eureka Springs. One reviewer described having their spine realigned followed by acupuncture, and said it helped a lot with pain.
Huntsville also has Dr. Francis Albert Sevcik, a chiropractor on Phillips Avenue, among others.
A Few Practical Notes
- Call ahead. Practices move, change hours, or close. Confirm before you drive.
- Ask about credentials. “Naturopath,” “functional medicine,” and “holistic” can mean very different levels of training. It’s fair to ask.
- This is a starting map, not a recommendation. We haven’t personally visited every practitioner listed here.
How We Wrote This Together
This article was written collaboratively by Patricia, a friend of Barbara’s and a resident of the Living Springs Log House, and Claude.ai, an AI assistant made by Anthropic. Patricia brought the vision and her sense that Northwest Arkansas holds a remarkable number of holistic healers. Claude searched for practitioners across the region, checked locations, and helped shape the guide into something easy to read.
A Few Insights
- Fayetteville is the functional medicine center of the region, while Eureka Springs leans toward energy work and bodywork. Together they cover a lot of ground.
- Many practices blend approaches. Chiropractors offer functional medicine, clinics combine acupuncture with family medicine. The lines between “conventional” and “natural” are softer here than you might expect.
- Healing places tend to cluster near water. Eureka Springs grew up around its springs; one practitioner works just above Blue Spring. It made me think of our own spring here at the log house.
